2moroDocs is a woman-owned company based in Washington State. Initially, I established Tailored Thoughts in 1987. In the Spring of 2015, I renamed the company to 2moroDocs. I selected 2moroDocs for the name as this was my first blog and social media presence, begun in 2009. At the time, this 2moroDocs site focused on new technologies for technical communication. The “2moro” portion of the name is a text version of “tomorrow” and indicates the future. Hence, 2moroDocs: tomorrow docs. Future docs, now. In transferring everything from Tailored Thoughts to here, I’m merging the information from both.
In the time period of 1987 – 1998, I produced technical documentation and related materials for companies in the Seattle area. Clients included Microsoft; Applied Precision, Inc.; The Write Stuff; Washington Natural Heritage Program, WA Department of Natural Resources (volunteer only); Davey Stephens – Northwest Coast Artist; and the Int’l Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Several of the awards I received were for work completed for the Washington Natural Heritage Program and Davey Stephens. I resumed operations in 2009.
Owner: Julie Norris
I have a B.A. in English – Technical Communications from Eastern Washington University, decades of experience in the field, and have received four industry awards (three STC, one IABC) as well as other recognition for blogging, design, and email marketing. Details about these items are on the Awards page. This company, 2moroDocs, provides writing and content production and management, and WordPress blog customization. I can also provide technical documentation assistance.
Currently, I run my blogs and sites, handling all aspects of production: writing, graphics, WordPress site coding, and day-to-day management. I’ve become proficient with WordPress, and am familiar with the code, so am able to develop and maintain websites and blogs.
Recognition for Work Online
In July of 2010, I was named #16 in MindTouch’s list of 25 Most Influential Technical Communicator Bloggers. (The article appears to have been archived from the MindTouch site.) My 2moroDocs site was added to the Showcase for StudioPress, which develops the themes I use for my websites. In January 2012, I was named #48 of 400 in #TechComm and #ContentStrategy by MindTouch. In the same list, my chat was listed at #92. The link was on this page, now apparently archived: The 400 Most Influential in #TechComm and #ContentStrategy. I was also again included in the list in 2013: 2013 Top Influencers in #TechComm. In 2014, I was named in the Top 40. (Note: the MindTouch pages appear to be archived at this point.)
Note: some earlier versions of this section included additional links, which appear to have been archived. I’ve removed such links. 10/24/18, 7/10/20, and 5/2/2021.
